Sports: MLB expands playoffs to 10 by adding two more wildcards

Awesome! Now the AL East can get THREE teams in the playoffs instead of just two :-)

In 8 of the last 10 years, the wild card team has been from the AL East. The Yankees, Boston and Tampa Bay have held two of the playoffs spots 18 times in the last ten years. Having a second wild card team would have meant 4 more AL East teams, 2 more AL Central teams, and 3 more AL West teams, with one more going to a playoff game between the AL Central and the AL West. In NONE of those instances would the 2nd Wild Card team been the Twins or the Blue Jays. But it MIGHT be sometime...

Also, out of the last ten years, if there was a 2nd Wild Card team, only three times would both wild card teams come from the same division. 2011 and 2011 would see two AL East wild card teams, and 2006 would have seen two AL Central wild cards. Interesting stuff. Clearly more beneficial for the AL East. Which is good news for the Blue Jays....if they can ever beat the Yankees, Red Sox, AND Tampa Bay in the same season...not an easy feat.

Film: 'Heart Stop Beating'-story of replacing a heart with a pump

This is SO cool!

They take out the heart and install two turbines which continuously move the blood through the body. The pulse itself is not necessary for human life. It is merely the byproduct of the heart's pumping actions. The goal is the movement of blood through the body to deliver oxygen gained from passing through the lungs. Why not have this do it?

How reliable is the hardware used? How is it powered? These are my questions. If the hardware is more reliable than the muscle and the power is renewable beyond...say 120 years...sign me the hell up.

Op-Ed: Teen bullying documentary R rated, can't be seen by teens

One of the dumbest things I've heard of in a while. It features REAL teens, speaking in their own language about what ACTUALLY happens to teens. But teens can't see the movie? I realize they can see the movie with an adult...but this is exactly what teens SHOULD be able to see without their parents letting them in. This is about their real lives. How can it be unfit for teens to see?

I understand fictional movies having ratings based on content. But this is a documentary about TEEN bullying. It should be able to be seen by teens without restriction.
